Mel’s Outdoors believes that the easiest way to have a memorable experience is by having the right ice fishing gear. Clothing is such a huge factor in what your experience will ultimately be. Mel’s Outdoors staff also enjoys the outdoors and want to help you get exactly what you’re looking for!

A lot of anglers get discouraged if they don’t have successful trips out on the ice initially. Talking to our team here, their biggest suggestion is layers.

Most experienced anglers wear a minimum of three layers; the base layer, mid layer and top layer. The base layer is often a breathable undershirt. Most anglers have specific brand preferences for their top layers. Some anglers prefer jackets over bibs and others prefer the seamlessness of bibs.
